The Master Herpetologist Program is a certificate program, and is offered 100% online. The class is taught by a diversity of herpetologists from around the world.

This intensive class provides an introduction to herpetology and equips participants with amphibian and reptile identification skills and general knowledge of frogs, salamanders, turtles, lizards, crocodilians, tuatara, and snakes — their life histories, habitat requirements and biodiversity.

Interested in keeping and breeding reptiles & amphibians? Learn from the professionals! There is a lot of material out there on the internet, and sadly, most of it is confusing, not helpful, or just outright wrong. This class provides an opportunity to learn about the successes and failures from professionals. This intensive class provides a husbandry foundation as we learn from zoo professionals, nonprofit keepers, conservation managers, professional breeders, and others about the best practices and proven techniques for keeping and breeding reptiles & amphibians in captivity. Methods for growing healthy live food, ensuring proper water quality, light and heat sources, and more will be provided by professionals, as well as details of successful captive projects with species and groups of salamanders, frogs, turtles, lizards, snakes, and more

The Southeastern Master Herpetologist Program is a certificate program, and is offered 100% online. The class is taught by a diversity of herpetologists working in the Southeastern United States.

This intensive class provides foundation knowledge in southeastern herpetofauna and equips participants with amphibian and reptile identification skills and general knowledge of frogs, salamanders, turtles, lizards, crocodilians, and snakes  native to the Southeast — their life histories, habitat requirements and biodiversity.

The Junior Master Herpetologist Program is offered as an 8 week virtual class, hosted by the Amphibian Foundation. It is based on our acclaimed Master Herpetologist Program (for adults) and adapted for a younger audience. The Junior Master Herpetologist Program is perfect for young learners, aged 12-17 interested in amphibians and reptiles as well as those interested in exploring the field of herpetology.


The Junior Master Herpetologist Program is offered as an 8 week virtual class, hosted by the Amphibian Foundation. It is based on our acclaimed Master Herpetologist Program (for adults) and adapted for a younger audience. The Junior Master Herpetologist Program is perfect for young learners, aged 12-17 interested in amphibians and reptiles as well as those interested in exploring the field of herpetology.


This is a training course for staff in AF's Education Team, which guides instructors in lessons for teaching younger learners (ages 6-14) about amphibians and reptiles.
