Critter Camp
Critter Camp is hosted at the Friends School of Atlanta and The Blue Heron Nature Preserve and is open to all. It is intended for ages 6 - 14. Critter Camp is kept small (15 students max) and is a safe, hands-on experience to learn about these fascinating animals.
Snake Day!
Mondays at Critter Camp is 'Salamander Day', Tuesdays are 'Frog Day', then turtles, lizards and then Friday is 'Snake Day' ... Snakes are a fascinating group of animals and Snake Day is a favorite among campers.
Hands-on, Critter Camp
At Critter Camp, we understand that campers learn best when given a chance to explore the material on their own. Each day starts with 'Observation Time' where the campers can feed, water and observe the animals at their own pace, and keep a writing/drawing journal of their observations.
Campers Love Frogs!
At the Amphibian Foundation, where the animals used for Critter Camp reside, we have over 200 reptiles and amphibians - many of them are frogs. We teach the campers how to safely handle these delicate animals - for the animals' safety as well as the campers'.
