Level II In-person Junior Master Herpetologist Program - Spring 2027

The Level II Junior Master Herpetologist Program is offered as an 16 week in-person class, hosted at Amphibian Foundation in Decatur Legacy Park, GA USA. It is based on our acclaimed Master Herpetologist Program (for adults) and adapted for a younger audience. The Level II program is perfect for young learners, who are interested in taking a deeper look into amphibians and reptiles, as well as those interested in exploring the field of herpetology.

The Level II Junior Master Herpetologist Program is kept small (max 8 students) to allow for more diverse experiences in the lab and field. Class is hosted in the Community Science Lab in the upper level at AF.

The course is rooted in hands-on learning, and covers the major amphibian and reptile groups: Frogs, Salamanders, Caecilians, Tuatara, Lizards, Snakes, Turtles, and Crocs, including Georgia animals too. By the end of the course, students will have expanded their herpetological knowledge. We have hundreds of amphibian and reptile ambassadors available to for learning and animal interactions. Each class starts with a lesson, then a short break, followed by handling time for the group of animals discussed that day. Limited to 8 students.

Fall Schedule - Class starts Saturday, Jan 16, 2027.

Class meets at 12 pm every other Saturday at Amphibian Foundation, except the local field trip. Class ends at 3 pm. The semester ends with the final exam on Apr 24, 2027.
